As Backend Developer for Machine Learning, you will participate in a multi-national project where you contribute to all aspects of our machine learning platform, from data collection and integration to the automation of our prediction engines and interfacing with third party systems. 

You will work in Espoo on the Otaniemi campus or in our Berlin office with occasional work from home. You will communicate with a distributed team of world-class data scientists and developers on a regular basis and report to our CTO who is located in Berlin, Germany. The Candidate

You have a solid theoretical background of software engineering and databases. Your work history includes development of data processing pipelines and web services. Most importantly, you are eager to learn more and grow your expertise.  

Our ideal candidate has: 

• 3+ years of DB and API programming experience in Java and/or Python
• Deep knowledge of SQL and relational databases, e.g. PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with shell scripting in Linux or other Unix-based OS  
• Fluent English and willingness to work in an international team

The following skills will be an advantage:

• DevOps / Docker / Cloud Computing  
• Advanced knowledge of an ETL Tool
• Processing of Geospatial Data
• NoSQL databases 

You will play a central role for the platform and solution development, and work closely with other developers, data scientists, and system administrators. Depending on your performance, you may earn a long-term leading role in CollectiveCrunch.  

The position is initially time-limited with a possibility of a permanent employment later.
