DESCRIPTION

The Compliance team provides an essential service by providing an advisory service to firm personnel and by monitoring firm activities to enable it to comply with the relevant laws, regulations and internal policies.

The Compliance team is required to identify and manage risk exposure of the firm by ensuring that the systems and controls which exist are effective and relevant in order to protect the firm from both internal and external risk factors, whilst encouraging a culture of compliance and ethical standards.

The purpose of the Compliance Officer role is to provide support to the firm by conducting the allocated responsibilities in an accurate and timely manner. You will be instrumental in building our AML team and helping to manage the scalability of our legal services. You will have the opportunity to take on a wide-ranging portfolio of compliance work and will be handling challenging situations in a time sensitive environment.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist with developing compliance policies and procedures as well as building our AML team

- Assist with Customer Due Diligence (CDD) reviews and undertake client screening and ongoing monitoring

- Review the output generated by the screening and monitoring activities

- Engage with different business units of the firm, especially Customer Support, for improving processes, providing clear and concise guidance and developing a compliance culture

- Assist with conducting Internal Monitoring of adherence to internal policies

- Maintain compliance registers

- A trusted legal advisor in a variety of areas such as strategy, legal risks/opportunities, policies and practices

- Assist with drafting, reviewing, negotiating and managing contractual agreements

REQUIREMENTS

Essential:

- degree in law or business

- couple of years of work experience in legal sector

- fluency in Finnish and English (both written and oral)

- possession of excellent Microsoft Office skills

- excellent attention to detail

- self-motivated with an appetite to learn

- effective communication skills

- planning and organisational skills

- flexible, reliable and committed team player

- analytical and assertive

Work experience in compliance / legal function of a company is considered a benefit but entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to function successfully in a fast paced environment is more important characteristic.

Preferred:

- previous experience of processing client due diligence in a regulated or supervised environment

- work experience in a startup / growth company

- understanding of bitcoin / desire to work in the cryptocurrency industry considered highly favourable

- ability to start as soon as possible
