OmniDonum.com is a community centered nonprofit hub and a marketplace platform that connects small to medium-sized nonprofits to small to medium-sized businesses for various fundraising efforts, such as auction galas, event sponsoring, % of sales, and wishlist fulfilment, eventually also volunteering. I’m looking for 1-2 partners on a sweat equity basis for 1-2 days/wk to help me with the next steps as I really do not perform well alone.
OmniDonum.com is a locally centered nonprofit information hub and a marketplace platform that connects small to medium-sized nonprofits to small to medium-sized businesses for various fundraising efforts, such as auction galas, event sponsoring, % of sales, and wishlist fulfilment, eventually also volunteering. We have originally validated the concept in 2011 and 2012 in the U.S. through mockups and focus groups consisting of nonprofit and business professionals. Then, further validation was gained in a few business plan competitions in the U.S. I have personal multi-year experience of both sides of the ecosystem and the operational landscape through my own professional years as a retailer in a small town in New England, USA.
In 2015, an ELY-grant of 50,000€ was secured in Finland for the development of the MVP. That project, which required a matching sum from owners or investors, was completed in the summer of 2017.
Now, the MVP needs to be revalidated with a narrow focus (which we'de decide about together), probably redesigned or redone completely.
Ideally I’m looking for 1-2 partners who could join me on a sweat equity basis for 1-2 days weekly working side by side in Turku or Helsinki to help me with the following next steps in these coming months. Remote sessions are also possible though. Be mindful that Finland is +3 hours to GMT. Our aim is to pilot with the MVP on a small scale this fall/winter.
With a sparring / business development partner revalidate the basic concept / problem / business case, define focus for pilot
With a CTO / PO partner, first design the user experience for what ever lean approach we choose to apply for our new MVP, then manage the selection of coders/designers/software firm, and then manage the process with a service design mindset. We must choose between taking the current code and improving on that from especially the UX/UI perspective or starting from scratch with an extremely lean solution (like ShareTribe)Any combination of the following skills/experience that would be helpful, but not completely necessary:
A knowledge of the nonprofit/small business fundraising collaboration landscape on the grassroots level in the U.S. would be helpful.
Interview design to validate the problem
An understanding of the lean method of marketplace development would be helpful
PO experience
Growth path / Hacking / testing / marketing automation experience
I’m very open to negotiating a vesting contract on the sweat equity. I would be financing the upcoming coding and design work myself and hoping to get a matching Tempo fundding grant from Business Finland to get us to an MVP and piloting phase, and hopefully proof of concept. After that, we’d be looking to get a TEKES R&D loan to develop the platform further, I’m thinking something like 250-300K. None of this will happen without a great team around me.
At this point, I’ve invested about 100,000€ in the company, and can invest 20-30K more this year. The run rate is minimal right now, averaging about 300€ a month for various Saas and the hosting. I have taken no salary myself so far. Thank you so much, let me know if you have any questions!
