The internship is preferably a four-month full-time position. 

The Social Media and Communications Intern will elevate The Shortcut’s digital presence by activating and enhancing our communication plan, especially through social media channels.

Specific tasks include:

1) Community engagement through social media

• Respond to messages and posts through social media channels (especially Facebook, Instagram and Twitter)
• Regularly write and post inspiring and engaging content on our public social media accounts
• Contribute to social media campaigns for events and special projects
• Contribute to publication of event and opportunity information to our channels

2) Ongoing Strategy Development

• Refine and implement a system to coordinate and filter the creation of content from our various community members
• Engage with relevant social media trends and platforms to expand and enrich The Shortcut’s outreach
• Activate and update overall organisational communications plan

3) Communication tools: contribute to the conceptualisation, writing and production of storytelling

• The Shortcut stories (ongoing)
• Periodic newsletters
• Medium blog
• Social media channel activation (ongoing)

4) Community Development

• Help the team move into The Shortcut Lab at Maria 0-1
• Connect with, interview and share stories of The Shortcut community members
• On a weekly basis, act as the Lab Host, welcoming community members and providing operations support

5) Administrative Support (ongoing)

• Attend weekly team meetings
• Offer support to The Shortcut team when needed, such as taking minutes, joining meetings, etc
• Participate in The Shortcut community events

The assigned tasks should contribute to the personal development and acquisition of skills of the intern, and offer an insight into the creation of community building/development, participatory work and user empowerment (creation of an ecosystem from scratch).
