We are looking for a Solutions Architect to help our customers in utilizing Aiven managed Open Source services. Aiven is looking for Solution Architects to join its team in USA (Boston or remote), and European Union (Helsinki or remote).

An ideal candidate will be passionate about (open source) technology and genuinely want to help customers in a pre-sales capacity. Aiven is looking for candidates to join the technical sales team with demonstrable experience in the following areas that will be required in their day-to-day job:

(Aiven services: Apache Kafka, Apache Cassandra, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, InfluxDB and Grafana)

  • Hands-on consulting experience
  • Understand customers’ technical problem at an architectural level and propose a solution to address the problem using Aiven’s services 
  • Break down solution to customers’ technical problem into smaller more manageable components and be prepared to implement some of the components
  • Act as a technical consultant and subject matter expert to customers
  • Conduct successful proof of concepts
  • Work with Aiven Product team to address feature gaps in Aiven’s service offerings
  • A fairly deep technical understanding of the inner workings of Kafka and at least one of either Cassandra, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Ability to implement solutions in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, Ruby
  • Familiarity with Linux operating system, DNS, and IP networking concepts
  • Knowledge of public clouds and cloud terms - (compute, storage - block and object, networking, security groups)
  • Willingness to go the extra mile to help customers
  • Be an ambassador for Aiven
  • up to 25% travel is required


Required qualifications:

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or similar discipline) or, an equivalent amount of professional experience in software engineering


The following experience is nice to have:

  • Writing technical blogs
  • Giving talks at conferences and meetups
