For the first couple of years, from 2000, Jesper operated Just Eat from a cellar while struggling to make the company profit. When Just Eat started making profits in 2004, he traveled to England and set up a branch there. In 2008, he decided to step down as director of Just Eat, and he moved to Spain before selling his shares in Just Eat in 2011 for a huge million. Buch has over the years invested in many different start-up companies such as Miinto, GoMore, Autobutler and Mentaline.com.

THE VELUX FOUNDATIONS are comprised of the two philanthropic foundations VILLUM FONDEN and VELUX FONDEN. Among our grant areas are science, environmental, social and cultural purposes in Denmark and internationally. In 2019, the two foundations gave joint grants of approx. EUR 178 million. Both foundations were established by the founder of VELUX and other companies in the VKR Group, whose mission it is to bring daylight, fresh air and a better environment into people’s everyday lives.

After this establishment phase has been evaluated, the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Board of Directors will decide whether to establish BII as an independent foundation and grant funding for the next seven years of operation.
